Help: I Need Floaty Things (Barrels) in Slovakia

This is an unusual request, but after wonderful responses for video editors and proof-readers, I thought, ‘why not ask?’

One month ago, I set out on a big adventure. The intention for part one was to buy old bicycles and cycle from England to Slovakia. It worked.

Part two begins now. We (myself and three pirate companions), aim to build a raft and float down the Danube to Romania. It may or may not work, but we don’t know until we try (impossible is nothing). Our issue now however, is that we need barrels / oil drums and wood (or large things that float). We have all the tools we need (we think) and are basing ourselves near Malacky, Slovakia.

This is a journey with almost no budget (check out our bicycles to see what I mean).

So, please, can you help us? We want to be The Pirates of The Danube, but we need floaty things.

If you can help, please message me. If you know someone else who can help, please share this post with them. I look forward to hearing what you come up with.

If we get barrels, I like the design shown below, but we are open to anything depending upon what we can get our hands on.

Jamie , find out if there any food processing plants nearby, if so there is a chance that many of the ingredients they use are delivered in Large plastic barrels….

Very true. I’ll start researching soon and see what I can find.

The only problem with many of these “drums” is that the end user normally has to pay a deposit on the container, which is refunded on the safe return..so a little polite persuasion may be required,
