More Monkeys Than Bintang in Bali

Bali is notorious as a party place where foreigners spend a week or two drinking excessive amounts of Bintang (the number one beer in Bali) and behaving outrageously before returning home. Whilst I do enjoy drinking beer and had my fair share of Bintangs in Bali, I chose to stay away from the party places in Bali and instead, see what else the island has to offer. We had only two full days on the beautiful island, but we managed to climb a volcano, visit the monkey forest, take part in a cooking course, ride motorcycles, wander through markets, and explore rice fields amongst other things in this short period of time. We were met with fascinating places and kind hearted people. I am sure that the bars would have been fun, but these little shared experience will stay with me (us) for quite a while. And we still got to drink a Bintang or two somewhere during the day. Thus this video is titled Bali Minus Bintang as it showcases a side of Bali that is separate from days of drinking Bintang.

Thanks to Leah and Hayley for sharing many happy days with me as we started our journey in Jakarta before heading east to Bali then Gili and Lombok.

This is so incredibly inspiring. I started reading two of your books and now I can’t get enough of this blog. I always dreamed of having a life like this but doubted it was possible. Thanks so much for being awesome and sharing your experiences!

    Hey Jamie!
Your blog has inspired me to go on adventures I would have never dreamed possible in my circumstances. It is always great to see what adventures you have embarked on. Out of curiosity for my own knowledge, I have a question (or perhaps two), have you, in all of your travels, ever been robbed or assaulted? Or have you ever lost or damaged your camera?

Thank you for continuing to inspire and feed my wanderlust,

    Robin.
