When we started this great big, overly ambitious adventure, we got lots of punctures
which we clearly took very seriously.
We took breaks when we could,
slept outside,
and then got on the ferry to Holland.
We were very excited.
We ate in luxury,
got used to looking at each other’s bums,
and even played the tourists.
Our budget bicycles needed fixing,
but we more than got by
because we were so happy with life
despite the rude words
and despite being arrested.
We have danced in fountains,
learnt to sleep where the police can’t find us,
and enjoyed the morning sunshine.
We have washed in waterfalls,
cycled in bare feet when we’ve broken our toes and even learnt to put socks on the pedals to save sweaty feet.
Then we realised that we had cycled across Holland and into Germany,
so we drank beer in the bus stops,
and made a home in a barn.
Then we messaged our families to tell them that we were alive,
found some eggs in a bin and cooked them,
and found ourselves asking strangers where to sleep next. We were invited to a pony farm, served multiple cold beers, slept in a camper van and woke up to a delicious breakfast
and bareback horse riding.
Then we had a crash and took a break for a day.
And do you know what is best of all? We get to do it all again tomorrow. And the next day. And the day after that.
I like life. I hope that you like it too.
I absolutely love the style of this post and the overall of the blog, plus, what an adventure!
Don’t know if I would have had a piece of those bin-eggs though 😛
Thanks for the feedback. What about bin beer? We found 15 litres!!
Makes me even more excited about planning a cycling adventure!
What a great experience! It is refreshing to see others take life in their own hands and make it an adventure, make it their own.
I just ran into your website last week and have been following the journey ahead, best of lucks to you all.
Thanks for taking an interest.
