If you’ve been watching the news, you may have heard that Istanbul is currently experiencing some turbulent times. I have just got back to my apartment and will share more views and videos on the issues later, but for the meantime, here are some photos that I took on the streets today. Apologies for the lack of selectiveness. I had several hundred images and I am desperately in need of sleep. Most of these are taken on or around Taksim Square. More coming soon.

Looks like we were at the protests at the same time ha ha, I actually had a bit of fun running around and supporting the Turkish people!
It was some interesting times. I was there with a Syrian friend who was part of the Syrian revolution: he looked at me seriously when we were amidst the chaos and said, “Jamie, this is nothing.”
thanks for sharing these great photos from turkey. great moments you got there.

Wow, amazing, evocative pictures – is that guy jumping off the edge onto that pile of rubble? I love the peace sign; it says far more than smashed up vehicles.
Despite the destruction and havoc across the city, the underlying message, is one of peace. I’m not sure how well they are making their point however.
Fortunately, the jumping guy landed on the ledge, if he hit the rubble many metres below, he would have been very hurt. Someone did (apparently) fall off the roof of a VERY high building a couple of days ago though.
Wow, I am filled with so much emotion looking through these. I can’t even begin to understand how it must feel being there and triggering all of your senses.
WoW! Going through the pictures, I felt I was there.
You did a really good job by posting it. You must have worked hard to take all those pictures.
Cheers for it 🙂
