Help Save The Arctic 30

“I have been shaking for most of the last 48 hours. I oscillate between fear, disbelief and panic.”

This is what Kieron Bryan wrote in a letter to his family last week. Kieron is one of the 30 members of Green Peace currently being held in Russian prison facing piracy charges. 28 activists, a freelance photographer and a freelance videographer, were involved in a protest against the Gazprom Arctic drilling platform Prirazlomnaya on September 18th. Two of the activists tried to climb the side of the platform to hang a banner. One day later, Russian security services descended from a helicopter onto the deck of the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise, seized the ship at gunpoint and detained the entire crew. The video below shows the Russian security services wielding guns at the activists.

For three weeks, the crew have been detained and held in very unpleasant conditions. This does not sit true with my conscience and one of the only ways to help these people is to put pressure on those who have the power to change this situation.

Please visit www.greenpeace.org/freethearctic30 to send a letter to the Russian Embassy to free the activists and end Arctic drilling. It will take you a matter of seconds, but the impact that you have could be huge. Sharing this issue will also help.
