Don’t Take Yourself Too Seriously

Reading online content for interesting places to visit in the future, I come across a lot of media aimed towards the travelling market. Recently however, my attention was caught (for all the wrong reasons) by the Hotels4u campaign. At the time of writing, the video, which features exaggerated Brummie accents, has far more dislikes than likes on Youtube (watch below) as well as some fiery feedback.

The standard response expected from Hotels4u, would be to bury their heads in the sand: instead, they took the criticism head on and released a comeback video highlighting the harshest and most creative feedback in a video (show at the top of the page) along the lines of Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Celebrities read mean tweets.’

If a large company can laugh at itself and accept criticism, so can we all (although saying that doesn’t make it any easier to take at the time).

I will try hard accept criticism and to not take myself too seriously. In the words of a movie legend…

It is a truly terrible advert though. The fact that it was discussed about probably numerous times in meetings and then signed off by Hotels4U is astounding.

The first one is one of the worst adverts I can remember seeing for a long, long time.
