Court Hearing

Yesterday, I was due to appear in court in Amsterdam. As the unfriendly police woman, a Koch, told me, I was not obliged to attend this hearing, but a decision would be made in my absence. Mrs. Koch would be there to explain how very awful we were as people for camping in a park during our cycle ride and endangering the sanity and safety of the drug and prostitute filled Amsterdam. I am so desperately sad to have missed the festivities.

As I told her at the time of our arrest, I would not be able to attend the court hearing in Amsterdam, so I asked for a contact number or some way of finding out the results of the hearing so that the matter could be settled. She didn’t know and after three hours in a police station, she still couldn’t find out. All I now know is that some Dutch people were talking about me yesterday and a verdict has been passed. I have no idea what they said or how I can find out.

If anyone sees my face on a wanted poster in Holland, please let me know. Sometimes people are very ridiculous. This is one of those times.

Kafkaesque, are these processes? (reading The Process right now 🙂 )

    What a story:)
When I was in LA a couple of months ago I got a parking ticket. We went to protest it as we thought the aprking sign wasn’t clear at all (but then again, they never are in LA). I had to fill in a form, but they told me I’d better pay right away because by the time the letter with the decision about my appeal would arrive in Belgium, where I live, the time I had for paying the fine would already have passed:)

Once I was not even abroad when found out that local court have made a decision about case when me and my roommate were claimed to disturbt the neighbors (two girls eating pizza and having some laugh, but it was enough apparently). we received the notice about the date and place of the court when the court had actually already been held, without us. but they gave us just warning so since then I tend not to take these things too seriously. our case was probably bunch of similar insignificant ones the workers there are dealing with everyday as a duty but, indeed, the absurdity of these kind of cases is just obvious.
